Personal Project: “The Neighbor” | Boston Contemporary Portraiture

I really dig working on personal projects. It’s important, I think, to keep the creative juices flowing.

A few months ago I shot a series of photos of my neighbor. He’s a very willing and compliant subject and lets me pretty much do whatever I want…a photographer’s dream. The following are two photos (one image I processed two different ways) that I decided to finally put up for the world to see.

I gave myself a clear objective for this project, a theme:  GRITTY AND CINEMATIC.

I may or may not post more photos from this series. I chose this image because I believe it to be the best of the batch; as such, I’m not sure if I’ll be working on any of the others at the moment. Also, I’ve got my fingers in other pies and have a bit of A.D.D with my editing and post-processing.

Maybe I’ll expand the project and photograph more neighbors…? Eh, I don’t know. We’ll see.

Nice one, I think I like the top edit better.

Thanks! Yeah, the feedback I’ve gotten thus far is that people seem to dig the first photo best…
